Family Ministry

Our church believes in much more than just Children’s Ministry. We believe in truly serving the entire family so that each member of the family is able to grow in their relationship with God.  We have many activities throughout year that will meet the needs of each family member regardless of age.

Nursery

We offer a staffed nursery during worship services on Sunday mornings.  This is a comfortable place for babies and toddlers to play in a loving and positive environment.  That being said, we are a family friendly church.  So please feel free to bring your small children to our worship service.  They are always welcome and noise and movement are never a nuisance.  The nursery is there for your convenience.  If your child would be more comfortable in our nursery, feel free to drop your child off when you are ready. We are happy to have them learn and play with us.

Children’s Church

During our Sunday worship service, we offer Children’s Church for our preschool and elementary age students.  All children are encouraged to attend the Sunday worship service with their parents. This gives our young children a chance to experience the Worship Service.  In addition, it allows our children to connect with and be a part of our congregation.  During the service, we have a Children’s Time dedicated to a short sermonette geared toward their age.  The children are invited to come to front of the church for Children’s Time and after it is complete the children leave the main service and walk to the classroom adjoining the nursery

Children’s Church is organized in a liturgical format much like the main worship service.  We begin the service with prayer and scripture readings.  Each week we have a new Bible story and the children learn through discussion, crafts, and other activities.  Our lessons are from Deep Blue developed by Cokesbury.  The children will come home with an activity sheet from the lesson along with discussion points the entire family can talk over together.  The curriculum is engaging and geared to the student’s educational ability.  In addition to learning about the Bible, we have snack time.  So please notify a Children’s Church volunteer if your child has any food allergies.

Once a month our congregation celebrates Holy Communion.  In the United Methodist Church communion is open to all regardless of age or church affiliation.  We believe that families should have the opportunity to celebrate communion together.  On Communion Sundays, our children leave Children’s Church early and return to the Main Service to join their family for communion.

GIFT Potlucks

Quarterly our congregation joins together after the Sunday worship service for a GIFT potluck.

GIFT stands for Growing In Faith Together.  We believe in the benefit of Intergenerational ministry.  This is a time for our entire church family to eat and fellowship together.  We have a short devotion time.  In addition we complete a community outreach project together.  In the past we have donated care packages to our One Starfish Program, books to our Lending Library at Tatum’s Garden, and other ministries our church and community have been involved with.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer our church hosts Vacation Bible School.  This year we are Digging for Treasure and studying the Parables of Jesus.  We will meet Monday, July 10th – Friday, July 14th.
