The Pacific Grove Methodist Foundation was established over 50 years ago for the purpose of receiving, managing and expending its resources on behalf of the First United Methodist Church of Pacific Grove. It is a California non-profit, tax exempt corporation, operating under the provisions of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Gifts to the Foundation are tax deductible. Its activities are managed by a nine member Board of Trustees, who are appointed by the Annual Conference and serve for three year terms. The Trustees serve without monetary compensation and have no financial interest in any of the assets of the Foundation.

 

Purpose The Pacific Grove Methodist Foundation is of great significance and stability to the church, for it may be the recipient of any size gifts which may be given in a variety of forms. The Foundation enables members and friends to make gifts that will provide much needed multi-year financial strength to the Church. It serves as a vehicle for providing funding for scholarships, major capital improvements, the promotion of religious, charitable, and educational activities, and meeting the Church’s social concerns of importance to the community.We learn from the Bible that the smallest gift may be truly the largest. The Trustees appreciate the donor’s kindness in sharing with others his or her gift. Gifts in any amount, at any time, will be received and acknowledged. The Foundation provides a convenient, advantageous and reliable vehicle for giving. The Foundation is not a part of the procedure for meeting the normal operating financial needs of the First United Methodist Church of Pacific Grove hence, normal pledge payments should not be directed to the Foundation.
